Kids Martial Arts
Q: “Will martial arts, karate, tae kwon do make my kid violent?”
No way! In fact, martial arts makes kids calmer and more respectful than ever. Martial arts always has been about peace, and it always will be.
Q: “Can my child get injured with martial arts, karate, tae kwon do?”
As a parent, I'm sure you've seen that kids can get injured doing just about anything. Martial arts is no different, however we take safety very seriously here. Yes, injuries do sometimes happen. But we do everything in our power to avoid them. We do special exercises and stretches to make your child's body limber and flexible. And we're ALWAYS keeping a very close eye on everything going on.
Q: “Can my child do martial arts, karate, tae kwon do if he/she is not the athletic type?”
Yes! In fact, martial arts is often a “home” for kids who don't excel at team sports. Kids who have trouble in baseball, basketball, etc. often come to martial arts and do extremely well. And it's okay if your child is not athletic right now. Through our classes, they'll get in great shape and become very athletic.
Q: “Is martial arts, karate, tae kwon do fun for children?”
Absolutely! In fact, kids usually have to drag their parents to martial arts class - something parents are always shocked to see. We have our serious moments here where kids work and learn... but we have just as many moments where they goof off and have a blast!
Q: “Is martial arts, karate, tae kwon do a skill / talent that will give my child pride and confidence?”
Yes! A lot of kids perform their martial arts moves in talent shows and other things. Their friends are always blown away. The positive feedback children receive helps build their self-esteem and confidence. Kids feel good knowing they can do something that's "cool and special.
Q: “Should I get in shape before starting Muay Thai?”
Not at all. If you're not in shape already, our Muay Thai classes will get you into tip-top shape in no time. It's not only an incredible martial art - it's also one of the funnest, most kick-ass workouts around.
Q: “I have a past injury / medical condition. Can I still train?”
If you have a past injury / condition that could interfere with training, we just ask that you speak to your doctor first. Let us know what your doctor says - and if there's any kind of exercise you should avoid in order to not upset your condition.
Q: “Muay Thai seems very intense. Do people get injured a lot?”
Muay Thai IS intense. That's what's so awesome about it ;-). However, people do NOT get injured a lot. We've created a supportive, safe environment here.
Q: “If I'm new to this, am I going to have a 'painful' learning process?”
Not at all. For sparring & drills, you'll be paired up with either people of your skill level - or more advanced students who will help show you the ropes. No one here is a "bully" or anything like that. Everyone is extremely supportive and encouraging of one another.
Q: “I'm a competitive fighter. Will these Muay Thai classes help me in my matches?”
Definitely. We'll help you tone & perfect your technique to give you an edge over your opponents. In addition our training will improve your physique, increase your endurance and stamina, and boost your strength.
